    Coachmen Viking 17BH

Today we are going to be spotlighting one of our highest volume selling ultra-light travel trailers.
The Viking 17BH manufactured by Coachmen is loaded with features and benefits that really set it apart from its competition.
Starting from the ground up let’s look at what makes the Viking line really stand out:

    • One of the most important aspects of any travel trailer and often overlooked is the chassis.
Most ultra lights on the market use a 2 1/2” -3 ½” steel tube for their chassis.
This really limits the overall structural integrity of the foundation of the RV as well as drastically reduces your cargo capacity.
The Viking 17BH uses a full 5 ¼” I-beam for their chassis, which is the same size as you’d find in even full size 30’ travel trailers.
Due to that Viking's are rated for a higher cargo capacity so you won’t need to be concerned with overloading your trailer with all of your camping necessities.
That 5 ¼” I-beam also extends the space under the flooring resulting in much larger than average holding tank capacities.
It is generally common for ultra lights to be in the range of 18-21 gallon for their fresh capacities.
The Coachmen Viking 17BH boasts larger holding tanks at 33 gallon fresh, 25 grey, and 25 black, ensuring that you will have the capacity for extended trips.
    • Working up into the inside of the coach is another large improvement over competitors that usually go unnoticed.
It is common in the RV industry to find many manufacturers use strips of adhesive to adhere their vinyl to the floor decking.
Over time this results in the bubbling, peeling, and cracking that is all too common in travel trailers as they age.
The first thing that is done on Viking 17BH before any interior finishing is done is that they utilize 100% adhesive coverage for their flooring to ensure that those problems are addressed before they ever become prevalent.
    • Storage is one of the most crucial features folks look for when researching what trailer is best going to fit their needs.
The Coachmen Viking 17BH excels in this area.
An extremely well thought out floor plan arrangement makes room for massive amounts of storage ranging from their residential grade glued and screwed cabinetry, to the strut supported doors on the overhead cabinets, to the cavernous storage under the front queen size bed, you will never feel unorganized or cluttered with storage room to spare.
The Viking 17BH also features a unique answer to any large object storage.
Located in the rear of the unit you will find and exterior “Pack-n-Play” door that enables you to swing the hinged bottom bunk up which opens up the whole rear area to an area perfectly suited for bicycles, coolers, or large luggage without the need to maneuver throughout the main entrance and walkway.
    • Working our way up even further we get to the ceiling/roof of the Viking 17BH.
From the inside Coachmen has extended the average ceiling height of approximately 6’1” to a roomier 6’4” for more comfort and fewer bumps to the head.
On the outside you will notice a 4 ½ crowned trussed roof which is vastly superior to competitors flat roof in terms of strength and water runoff.
The roof material itself is a single, seamless piece of EDPM rubber that will hold up to the elements for years to come.
    • The Coachmen Viking 17BH is an impressive lightweight floor plan with room to sleep up to 5 individuals comfortably while weighing in at a feather light weight of approximately 2800lbs, making this an RV that you can feel at ease towing behind your small SUV or minivan.
The 17BH has a hitch weight of 406lbs and a hefty cargo capacity of just less than 800lbs.
Total exterior length is 21’8”, width 88”, height with roof mounted AC is 9’8”.
